New one stop primary care centres are emerging, bringing together a variety of extended community services onto a single site to provide more convenient patient access.

Better and more appropriate facilities will mean that primary care can accommodate a wider range of professionals and services. (e.g. echocardiography).

Such centres will allow the delivery of certain procedures:

• Outside the usual acute hospital setting and
• Outside the normal working day hours

These centres will prove crucial in reducing waiting times and expanding NHS capacity.
