The GPSI Led Intermediary Community Cardiac Service

Intermediate cardiac services aim to relieve the pressure on acute trusts and offer patients more rapid access to diagnostics and treatment.

Echotech has recently embarked on a new service delivery model with one of its long standing NHS customers.  The community echo service in this region has been expanded to receive patients being referred into a cardiac intermediary / interface service. Patients are referred by GPs to a local Cardiology GPSI who arranges the required diagnostics (including echo and BNP testing) and provides their specialist input specifically for diagnosing and managing heart failure patients in the community.

In line with the new NICE guideline; patients with a history of MI and a suspicion of heart failure are fast tracked to receive their echo within two weeks, with results returned within 48 hours.

All patient administration, scanning and archiving is provided by Echotech allowing the local GPs and Cardiology GPSI to focus on patient care.
