Echotech provides a highly innovative, unique service NOT easily reproduced by an NHS Acute Trust Echo provider. Why is this?Echotech is only one of a small number of Echo providers which holds BSE Departmental Accreditation. In the BSE guidance 'Community Echocardiography for Heart Failure' [Br.JCardiol.2004;11:399-402], it states: 'organisation of services should be based around a BSE Accredited Department'. Echotech has developed a unique service model that allows its resources to be shared between commissioning organisations via a 'Virtual Department' and thus provides exceptional value for money. Such efficiency savings include the exploitation of the very latest technology (laptop ultrasound machine and the Internet) and reduced inappropriate secondary care attendances. NHS Acute Trust providers may not have the necessary capacity to provide additional, community based Echo services. |
